Selection Policy for the 2018 European Marathon Team Cup, being held in conjunction with the 2018 European Athletics Championships, has been released.
To acknowledge the support of Marathon Mission to the development of elite marathoning in Ireland, we have included an avenue for selection via the National Marathon Championships, held in conjunction with the Dublin Marathon. We have scope to do this in this instance given the latitude afforded to us by having as many 6 spots to fill.
Athletes who wish to apply for carding support in 2018 can now do so via the online link (NB Updated Nov 5th - link removed) The deadline for applications is Sunday October 29th.
Before commencing application, athletes should familiarise themselves with the 2018 Operation Gold Performance Programme policy document. This outlines the programme support structures, selection process and policy, the selection panel, appeals process, and how athletes will be considered for carding at the various levels of the programme.
Athletics Ireland will manage and administer the athlete carding scheme for all levels of carding. The carding scheme is a 'selection process' whereby athletes must achieve performance criteria laid out within a Selection Policy to be considered for membership to the carding programme.
Athletics Ireland have released the Selection Policy for the 2017 European Cross Country Championships to be held in Samorin, Slovakia on the 10th December.
European Athletics have implemented some changes to the format for the 2017 European Cross Country Championships, with just three athletes to score, rather than the traditional four scorers here-to-fore, and the addition of a 4 x 1 lap (c. 1.5km per lap) mixed relay (2 males and 2 females).
